The genealogical trees give only the chief historical persons. The Persian usage of succession is in accordance with that of European nations with whom the Salic Law has prevailed but the Shah has the right of selecting his heir among his descendants. Under the Kajars there is this peculiarity; the heir must be a Kajar on the side of both father and mother.
