The Church in Dialogue focuses on current issues facing the Catholic Church as it attempts to incorporate the insight of secular fields and the truths of other religious traditions into its own. The theme of the book, while spread over chapters investigating various topics, may well be summed up in the author's own words: "Only God is absolute. Everything else is relative." The truth of this statement is explored in relationship to new technology, the creeds, the Hispanic community, religious education, and catechesis, among other subjects.
