A brief account of some of theseg gentlemen is given in the Reverend Dr. Campbell s History of St. Gabriel Church, from which we learn that John Gray, an Englishman by birth, was a North West trader, and lived outside the city, at St. Catherine 8, now Outremont.

Thomas A. Turner was a member of one of the foremost firms of general merchants. He became President of the Bank of Canada in 1 820.
