Publisher's Synopsis
The Cannon Chronicles is a collection of six short stories revolving around the old Cannon cinema. 'My First Trip to the Cannon' follows the innocence of a six-year-old child on their first trip to the movies in 1987. As they arrive the child describes in detail all of what they can see, hear and smell. 'Raw of the Wolds' tells the story of how the Government's HS1 rail network and a new cinema multiplex threatens the closure of the Cannon in 2001. 'Reflection on the Hidden Cellar' tells the story of William, who in 2005 stumbles upon a hidden staircase only visible in the reflection of a mirror, but where does it lead and can he get back? 'Reflection of the Son' follows on from the last story and sees Isaac the son go looking for his missing father, only to discover a horrifying truth. 'The doorway Man' sees an electrician working on the Cannon in 2017. When the spirit of what appears to be a former member of staff disturbs him, questions are asked. Who is he and why is he so angry? Can a discovery unearthed outside the building under the street give them the answer? 'Etched in Time' takes place in the year 2018, just as the Cannon is about to reopen its doors to the public for the first time in over fifteen years. A loner called Ray Ray Loftus, a former Professor at the local university who now works as the technical crew for the Cannon, discovers a way to complete his former research. The research that had him fired in the first place. After several years he has now left the confines of his home and has made new friends. Dare he risk losing it all again for a flight of fancy? And what secrets does the Cannon hold?
