Publisher's Synopsis
The title of this book is inspired by the poet Thomas Moore. Moore found peace and passion beneath a Calabash tree while during his brief stay in Bermuda, the homeland of the author. Many of the poems in The Calabash Tree have a tropical or Caribbean tone, reflective of Morris's Bermudian roots. Some of the poems were originally written as songs, which can be felt in their melodic tone and timbre. The poetry in The Calabash Tree covers a wealth of topics; from lost love to the poet's concerns about the ills of society and the effect they have on us all. This is G.L.Morris's first work, a collection of 38 poems written over a 10 year period.
