The twentieth century started with the Africans in America going through the curse of the Jim Crow laws and the Reconstruction Era, and at that time they were called by many names including, least of all, boy and girl. Midway through the twentieth century the African-American fought for the ending of segregation and when achieved it was thought of as the greatest accomplishment for the negro in the post-slavery days because the negro did not realize, at that time, that integration into the American system was even more dangerous to the Black man than segregation. The twenty-first century met the Africans in America still trying very hard to show their gratitude to the rest of America for allowing them to be integrated. Thus the Black man remains lost and going nowhere very fast as he travels along the road of life in America. This is because the African in America never did understand the meaning of integration!
