The Brave Endure was written to serve as an updated repository of the Wittekind family tree. It is the first genealogical survey of the family written and published since 1929. The book details the laborious process the author undertook in order to present a finished product that valued accuracy above all else. It chronicles the impact that the Wittekind family name had on the course of history, beginning with the legendary King Widukind. Though the book largely focuses on the Mellingen, Germany branch of the Wittekind family tree, it details biographical information for over 1,000 family members spread amongst 12 branches of the family tree. Drawing from personal interviews, church records, newspaper articles, and social media, The Brave Endure was written in an attempt to immortalize the Wittekind family. While there is hope that future genealogists within the family can expand on what was discovered, it is also intended to give current family members a glimpse of whence they came. The journey of the Wittekind family tree has persisted for over 400 years and this is their story.
