Saoirse Thompson is a suicidal adolescent. Bullied at school and returning to a bleak, poverty, stricken home, Saoirse starts to question her life before becoming overwhelmed by the mundane, robotic, zombie-like pointlessness of it all and committing suicide only to be saved by her mother. While trying to find a morsel of hope and meaning in her life, Saoirse stumbles across Peter in the woods. As the bodies start piling up Detective Denise Richards is forced to face up to the demons from her past when she failed to find an abducted child who was later found, raped and murdered. All their lives intertwine around the small Irish town of Dunbar and the desolate, abandoned, building in the woods just outside the town, that the locals simply call The Box Factory.
