The letters cover a range of topics, including the importance of faith, the role of the church in society, and the need for unity among Christians. The Book of Consolations is a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history of the Church of the East and the development of Christian theology in the Middle East.1904. The present Volume contains the first part of an Edition of the Pastoral Epistles which were written by Isho-yahbh the Head of the Nestorian Church, between the years 620 and 658 A.D. These Epistles fall readily into three parts: those which were written whilst he was Bishop of Mosul; those which were written after his promotion to be Metropolitan of Arbela and Mosul; and those during the period of about fourteen years in which he was Catholicus or supreme Head of the Nestorian Church. Each group of epistles possesses its own peculiar interest and characteristics, and each may be regarded has having a value sui generis; for this reason they have been published in chronological order. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
