In the Persian and Arabic languages each let ter has a numerical value and each name or word has as its numerical value the sum of the values of its component letters. A=i, B=2, Hz5. Thus 9 is the numerical value of the name Baha, and this number, which is the greatest of simple numbers is used by the Bahais as a symbol of the name.
