Captain Carter Abercrombie and his loyal Sergeant Harper find themselves swept up under the ambitious, presumed-dead Queen Rachel in her quest for revenge as she balances the stalwart, displaced society of the Shio and their coming war with the Aredian Empire. General Madino, a traitorous officer in the Empire's intelligence agency known as the Blackguard, has plans of his own to seize the colony, but can't predict that his closest officer- and lover- has other ideas. The Southern Colonies are burning, and when the die is cast to eradicate the Shio, the imperial fist holding the colony begins to lose its grip.
