Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from The Assayer's Manual: An Abridged Treatise on the Docimastic Examination of Ores, and Furnace and Other Artificial Products
The object of the Assayer's Manual is to give directions for executing docimastic tests of natural and artificial products by methods taken mostly from practice, and which are of interest especially to metallurgists, but also to other technologists. To those possessing some knowledge of chemical and docimastic manipulations, the aphoristic mode of expression I have chosen will be sufficiently clear to enable them to execute the tests with out further instruction. Those less skilled are referred for details to my larger work on Assaying, Leipzig, 1866. Copious bibliographical references are given in the foot-notes, which are calculated to help both the teacher and scholar.
