Not all tasks would necessarily be concerned with instrumentation, but might include program construction and debugging, word processing, and interfacing to remote computer systems. In general, we expected one system to be able to provide for the needs of a single laboratory which might require supervision of up to (say) three experiments, and up to (say) half-a - dozen terminals.
