But this is the very reason why a new and complete collation of P in these two works is imperatively required. The Amores is, as poetry, by far the finest effort of Ovid's genius. In technic (it is true) the ats is its equal, but not in the quality which is most required in an erotic poet tender feeling combined with lofty imagination.
