Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from The American and Foreign Christian Union, Vol. 3: January to December, 1852
We have endeavored to ascertain and appreciate the indications that the Protestantism of Great Britain has received a fresh impulse from the audacious course of the Pope in regard to that country. The effects of that impulse upon the late elections in both Great Britain and Ireland will be found narrated as amply as our pages would allow. We have endeavored to place before our readers the manifestations of her ancient spirit and character which Rome has taken care to make, both in the Old World and the New. In this, we trust our labor has not been in vain, through god's blessing.
