Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from The African Repository, and Colonial Journal, Vol. 6: August, 1830
Mr. B. Said he could not avoid adding, that great interest was felt throughout the civilized world for the success ofthis enterprise. Of this, a most interesting and impressive proof had recently been given, in the arrival of Mr. Sessing, and three other missionaries from Basle in Switzer land, who had voluntarily devoted themselves to the service of the colonv and of the tribes in its vicinity, and two of whom had already sailed for Africa. If such was the ardor oftbose who had no other interest in this cause, than that excited by Christian duty and a generous philanthropy, what should be the measure of our exertions in its behalf, identified as it is with the strength, the prosperity, and the honour of our Republic?
