Encouraged by this movement on the part ofa State so distinguish ed as Virginia, and so deeply interested in the subject of the resolu tions, a number of gentlemen friendly to the plan of African Coloni zelion, assembled in the City of Washington, when the following pro ceedings took place: The Hon. Hesav Cm v, of Kentucky, then Speaker of the House of Representatives, was called to the Chair, and thomas dougherty, Esq. Clerk of that body, was appointed Secretary.
