Sajdah is about to turn 8 years old pretty soon and she has just received some frightening news; her mother told her it's time she learned some responsibility. What that means is that Sajdah will have to start doing her own hair. Sajdah's hair is natural, it's poufy, kinky, coily, and curly, and she absolutely dreads getting it combed. But once it's done she loves it. She loves the afro puffs her mother gives her; she loves the braids adorned with beads, and absolutely adores the curls when her mother straightens her hair. Yet, she twists and turns and whines anytime her mother combs it. So she can't imagine the thought of doing it herself. She decides to take matters into her own hands, and does something so terrible to her hair, and cries herself to sleep that night, awaiting to what seems to be the worst punishment of her life. But that night, as she's thinking about the worst punishment ever, she wishes on a shooting star. She wishes for a magical hair brush, and the adventures begin!!! Does her wish come true? What will be her punishment for doing such a terrible thing to her hair? What will her friends and the older children at school say about her "new" hairstyle?
