Publisher's Synopsis
New York City, 1976
In a city that never sleeps, Meridian experiences one amazing thing after another. The minute the wind sets her down she makes two new friends who show her all their favorite places in New York City. She plays in Central Park, has a "plain slice" on the street, and even sees a play on Broadway. Along the way, Meridian learns the lingo of the long island and sees why this famous metropolis is called a "melting pot". But when a wait in line ultimately results in disaster, Meridian and her new friends learn what they are really made of in order to make it through the night. When the sun comes up the next morning it is the fourth of July and America's 200th birthday! Not missing a beat after their long night, the trio of pals put on their best red, white and blue outfits and set out for the biggest birthday party in all of America. Tall ships, fireworks and Lady Liberty cap off an adventure Meridian will never forget!
