Publisher's Synopsis
In The Adventures of Max by Isaias Rodrigo De León, Max is an ant who feels different from the others in his colony. From birth, he has sensed that his destiny isn't controlled by the Queen's strict rules. While most ants happily follow her commands, Max feels a deep unease and believes there is something beyond the hive. The Queen rules with absolute power, dictating every ant's role and forbidding anyone from leaving the hive.
Max grows tired of the monotonous life, observing the endless routine and feeling an inexplicable longing for something more. One day, while gathering food, he overhears two older ants talking about places beyond the forest where ants live freely, without the Queen's control. The idea of living without the Queen's authority fascinates Max, and he becomes consumed with the idea of freedom. That night, unable to sleep, he questions why he must live under the Queen's strict rules and wonders if he should leave the hive and explore the world outside.
