It is a story that takes place in the southeastern United States in the late 1800s, where slavery was in common use. Huck being adopted by the widow Douglas who began to "civilize" him - in his own words. With her, he learns good manners, and most importantly, from the hand of Miss Watson, to read and write.It is about how a child abandoned by society, allies with a runaway slave and a strong bond of friendship is created between the two. This is reflected in Huck's decision to take Jim to some place where he could be free, no matter that with it, he also risks his own and that he has to fight with his own demons. A novel that explores Huck's racism and how he is seen as a savior and who captured Jim; on the other hand, Jim also uses Huck.
