The Freedmen's Bureau Bill is the first, in joint of time, of the efforts of Congress to reconstruct the Southern States. The original bill was enacted.march 3d, 1865, and was to expire one year after the termination of hostilities. It's object was to protect and support the freedmen who were within the territory controlled by the Union forces.
