The present publication is sent out for the purpose of showing how such materials are tested, and to give a series of comparative results on various rock treated the same way.
These few tests are only introductory to the work that should be carried on in the different parts of the State where such informa tion is needed.
The experimental work was done mainly by Mr. R. R. Woolley, B. S. (m. 1908, to whom due acknowledgment is made.
