Teletex is a high-speed communication system. Its main purpose is to facilitate a public electronic mail service between any Teletex-compatible terminals. The Teletex service is a structured and internationally-agreed approach to the problem of communicating between dissimilar text preparation terminals.;After a preliminary description of Teletex, specific criteria (functional, ease-of-use, supplier, product) are considered. Then an evaluation procedure is outlined for potential users, with attention to establishing requirements, drawing up a checklist, establishing what products are available, selecting a supplier short-list, and assessing and evaluating the products.;This book does not aim to assess the suitability of Teletex as a facility for particular companies, but to help potential users evaluate different approaches and equipment.
