Publisher's Synopsis
This book describes the characteristics of the lithic technology at sites in the Northeast of the Iberian Peninsula and Atapuerca (Burgos) from the end of the Lower Pleistocene to the end of the Middle Pleistocene. After introducing each site (stating its location, the history of research there and, when necessary, its stratigraphy), the author goes on to describe the data derived from studies of the lithic record. Sites analyzed include Puig d'en Roca Excavació, Can Garriga and Cau del Duc de Torroella de Montgrì (Girona); Clot del Ballester (Lleida); and Vinyets (Tarragona). A further chapter describes the Sierra de Atapuerca sites, their location, geological context, research history and salient features, with particular attention on the deposits in the Galerìa. The work also includes a contextualization of the sites examined, in the frame of the Lower and Middle Pleistocene of the Iberian Peninsula and the rest of Europe.
