Publisher's Synopsis
Tales of the Under Forest: The Ol'Kinman. A fantasy tale of self-discovery and understanding set within the mystic world of the Under Forest (a subterranean wood where the trees grow upside down and there is no sun). The young child Garnin (a Mumkin) goes on a journey to discover his past. He runs away from home, into the darkness and danger of the wood. Though he comes into many dangers, he finds friends who help him on his way. The most important of these is the Master of the Under Forest, Ol'Kinman (a giant anthropomorphic pumpkin-man who looks after all the Mumkins). Together, they must fight to stop the witch Retandra from spreading Her wickedness throughout the forest and plunging everything into eternal night. The story has a balance of the dark and the light, able to fill the reader with joy on one page, yet capable of instigating dread and fear on another. This story will appeal to young adults but will also be suitable as a bedtime story for younger children. There are plenty of strange and wonderous places and creatures to set imaginations spinning.
