Excerpt from Table of New York Session Laws From January 1, 1887, to January 1, 1892: Which in Terms Repeal, Amend or Modify Other Statutes, Chronologically Arranged, and an Index of the Session Laws During the Same Period, Which Do Not in Terms Modify Other Statutes
Ince 1887 nearly one-half of the statute law of the State has been repealed or modified. To the active practitioner a knowledge of the changes made is a necessity. Mr. Birdseye, in his Chronological Table of Statutes, has left nothing to be desired as to changes made previous to 1887. This work is intended to supplement and bring his book down to date. The Table of Statutes contains all acts which in terms amend or repeal existing statutes. A large number of laws, however, by implication, amend or repeal former statutes, but to have included them in the table, as amendments or repeals, would have been to have usurped the province of the courts. For this reason, as well as for convenience of reference, such statutes, together with all others which do not in terms amend, alter or repeal other statutes, have been placed in the Index of Session Laws.
