Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Synopsis of Lectures Upon Diseases of the Nervous System: Delivered at the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Medical Department of Columbia University, New York
The simplest form of a nervous system consists of a single mass of gray matter with a sensory and a motor nerve. The mass of gray matter receives impulses sent from the surface by the sensory fibre, acts in response to the impulse, and the action is transmitted to a motor mechanism by the motor nerve.
