Publisher's Synopsis

Kishore and Dipalee arrive in Jamaica in 1880 with new plans and new names: Harry Ingram and Opal Thompson. Kishore, Dipalee's cousin, has saved her from an arranged marriage and, at the same time, has helped them both escape the lives of 'Untouchables'. At first, they pay a price for their escape, but soon they turn the tables and money becomes no obstacle to their future. But if financial security is gained, the same refuge cannot be said for their hearts or, indeed, their souls, for Harry is prone to outbursts of uncontrollable desire, and the seeds of that desire will be visited in Harry's great granddaughter, Sydney. There were other things, too, that Sydney now had begun to consider: two generations of young, naive, unmothered mothers divided emotionally, and if Sydney wasn't careful, she'd be one of them. 'Sydney's Skeletons' is the story of a family finally coming to terms with its dark past.
