Publisher's Synopsis
The Veteran Collective was one of those ideas that just came out of nowhere, like all good ideas. I was trying to give back to the veteran community by organising a meet up and doing what I could. Mental health issues are rampant in the modern society, it's not just the prevue of the military. The spectrum of these issues and their effects are huge, yet despite all of this the help available, or more accurately when it's actually needed, is laughable.A good friend of mine (Gaz who very kindly has done the foreword) suggested I create a platform for it - and here we are, The Veteran Collective. There are a huge amount of veterans doing things like this, and a much better job of it than me. The total lack of help when it's needed is probably the thing that spurs us on to do something ourselves, and for each other. We all need to realise there is absolutely no point in sitting around waiting for help that isn't going to come, we have to help each other and by doing so help ourselves. This book is simply a collection of thoughts, poems and stories in everyone's own words, in all its grammatically incorrect and spelling mistake glory! Hopefully this book can show any veteran, serving, or anyone that reads it there is hope and help out there - you are not alone. This is our story, by us, for you.
