Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Suture of Arteries: An Experimental Research
The research described in this little book was undertaken in Vienna, and has been accepted for publication by Langenbeck's Archiv. My excuse for issuing it in book form in England is, that very little literature on the subject is available in our language, and that almost entirely in American journals. The revival of the procedure of suture of arteries is due to German surgery, and nearly all recent research on the matter has been done by Continental and American workers. It was however first suggested by an English surgeon, and first carried into effect by one of his colleagues with brilliant results. For the convenience of any taking more than a passing interest in the subject, I have appended a list of references to previous litera ture, which I have endeavoured to make as complete as possible, including both articles dealing with experimental research, and those describing clinical observations.
