Publisher's Synopsis
Sustainable supply chain management involves integrating environmentally and financially viable practices into the complete supply chain lifecycle, from product design and development, to material selection, manufacturing, packaging, transportation, warehousing, distribution, consumption, return and disposal. The text Sustainable Supply Chain Management: Practical Ideas for Moving towards Best Practice focuses on the need to develop sustainable supply chains-economically, environmentally and socially. The aim of first chapter is to develop a conceptual framework in which designing an aligned sustainable supply chain (SSC) can be achieved. Second chapter focuses on issues and directions in operations management of logistics and supply chain. An integrated multi-echelon model for a sustainable closed loop supply chain network design has been presented in third chapter. Fourth chapter reviews the positive impact of quality management on supply chain management. Fifth chapter aims to investigate how stakeholder salience, based on stakeholder power, legitimacy and urgency impacts on sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) practices. Sixth chapter discusses sustainable supply chain engagement in a retail environment. Seventh chapter focuses on supply chain management and sustainability. The aim of eighth chapter is to investigate the impact of the green supply chain management on environmental-based marketing performance. Ninth chapter highlights the importance of supply chain resilience in the design of a sustainable supply chain network. In tenth chapter, we investigate the kinds of environmental management practices that are undertaken by companies in greening the supply chain and how these practices affect the environmental and operational performance of the companies. In eleventh chapter, a perspective of the evolution of logistics and supply chain management is designed. In last chapter, we examine a two-echelon fashion supply chain with one supplier and one retailer selling a short-life fashion product under a well-adopted return policy.
