Excerpt from Surrey Archaeological Collections, Vol. 51: Relating to the History and Antiquities of the County
Publications - Volume XLIX of the Collections was issued to members during January. Volume L was printed and would have been issued during the year but for difficulties concerning binding. It is to be issued to members during February, 1949.
Research Paper No. I. - The Council agreed to the initiating of a series of special papers, devoted to items of research con cerning the archaeology of the county. These were designed to relieve the shortage of Space which would be occasioned if they were included in the Collections and also, by producing them in a large (crown Quarto) format, to enable them to include larger illustrations than is possible in the annual volume, except by the use of folders.
The first of this series, entitled A Study of the Patterns on Roman flue-tiles and their Distribution, by the Hon. Secretary, was published in November, and may be obtained by members from the Assistant Secretary, price for members, 5/ for non members. Postage 3d.
The second Research Paper, A Mesolithic Survey of the West Surrey Greensand, by the Honorary Editor, is in course of preparation.
