Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Surrey Archaeological Collections, 1907, Vol. 20: Relating to the History and Antiquities of the County
The registers commenced on 26 February, 1583, and were perfect from 1682, except for the record of marriages from 1751 to 1754. Perhaps the most interesting entry they contained was that of March 20, 1681, recording the baptism of Hester, daughter of Edward Johnson, the Stella of Swift. The organ was erected in 1770, at the expense of George III and Queen Charlotte, and the builder, Knight, had been recommended by the King himself.
