Every year CCAST organizes three or four symposia/workshops on subjects that are especially selected for their potential as seeds for future development in China. The proceedings from these symposia form the basis of this series.;This volume, number 9 in the CCAST series, deals with surface physics. Some of the areas covered are the electronic and optical properties in semi-conductor heterostructures, lattice strain in heteroepitaxial layers, surface chemsitry of semi-conductors, and adsorption, diffusion and epitaxy of Si on Si (100).
