The donor, at the time of making this remarkable and valuable gift, issued a privately printed Handbook of the S. P. Avery Collection of Prints and Art Books in The New York Public Library But he began at once adding to the collection, and after his death the work was carried on by his son, Sam. P. Avery. The additions thus made are set down in the present list, which thus forms a supplement to the Handbook.
