Publisher's Synopsis

The verb to narrate means to tell, so to report a story. But, what is a story? It is the account of an event that happened one day, in a given place. This event is a new situation compared to the usual one. An incident provoked this new situation, following which actions were linked, to lead to a denouement, a happy or unhappy end. Example: in the story of The Fisherman and the Swordfish, the event is the meeting of the old fisherman and the huge fish. If the fisherman had only caught an ordinary fish, the narrator would not have been able to tell us this story! Following this event, the meeting of the old fisherman with the huge swordfish, actions took place. The fisherman pulled on his line to bring the big fish close to his boat so that he could kill it and, on his side, the fish pulled on the line to escape death...until, exhausted, the fish let itself be dragged towards the boat. This brings us to the final action, the denouement.
