But if it does seem worthy, or ever has seemed worthy - I insult it in using such words, for to any one who cares for it the question is not of its worthiness to be loved but of dis ability to love it - if, I say, we do care for it, then it may perhaps be useful to ask why we are right in doing so, and what answer among many answers we may make to the question - why should we study poetry and never allow a doubt of its value to disturb us?
