Publisher's Synopsis

This study interprets Paul on the basis of Paul's own statements, and only in an appendix considers material from Acts and shows how this does and does not conform to Paul's account of his early life and ministry through the Galatians 2:11-14 incident. In dialogue with Martin Sengel's Pre-Christian Paul, the study demonstrates that Paul grew up in Jerusalem, was trained as one of the strictest of the Pharisees, and only became the Hellenized person we meet in his letters during his 14-17 years in Syria and Cilicia after his call and encounter with Messiah Jesus.
