The author, Shri O. P. Gupta, is a retired State Civil Service Officer from Haryana. He, throughout his career, worked in senior executive positions in the Punjab-Haryana region, which is the cradle of ancient Vedic civilization. Having a keen personal interest in the subject, equaling that of a dedicated researcher, like several of his compatriots, felt disturbed that the present generation of ours does not feel tempted to study our past history and culture which is so essential- as our bright future has to be moulded out of our glorious past.
