Publisher's Synopsis
This text is intended for courses in structural analysis in civil engineering or aeronautical engineering departments. It presents both the classical and modern methods of structural analysis with an emphasis on the physical behaviour of the structures. The classical methods of analysis provide useful means of understanding the concepts and behaviour of structures, while the modern matrix methods present systematic general solution procedures.;One special feature is simple laboratory experiments or reduced scale models which are presented at the end of each chapter to demonstrate abstract concepts and difficult topics. A chapter on computer applications discusses some of the basic tools useful in the solution of structural problems.
