Publisher's Synopsis
The high cost of component spares for large and complex modern plant makes it essential that investment in these spares is subject to critical examination - subjective judgment bv the staff concerned is no longer adequate for proper financial control. The methods described in this book were developed as a result of the author's search for a numerate approach to the determination of spares holding. Although principally concerned with situations in which the user of an asset has to hold his own strategic spare, the procedures described are easilv adaptable to circumstances where a commercial source of spares is available.;The book is aimed at those concerned with the ordering and holding of large scale spares for complex and expensive plant. Originally developed for the electricity supply industry, the techniques described are widely applicable to other industries.
