Publisher's Synopsis
This text presents an up-to-date review of the application of image-directed neurosurgery of brain tumours, a process now accepted as being far safer and more accurate than earlier methods. This is a rapidly developing field and this book includes such important recent advances as "frameless" stereotactic techniques and the use of robotics. Beginning with an historical introduction to the methods, the text also covers: techniques and results of CT and MR directed stereotactic biopsy; interactive volumetric stereotactic excision of tumours; and radiotherapy techniques which depend on stereotaxy, including radiosurgery, focused external beam radiotherapy and interstitial radiation.
