Publisher's Synopsis
This book provides a firsthand account of men's challenges in and outside prison. It offers critical insight in helping men to form the best possible decisions to avoid prison, and a set of instructions to get them to cope while in prison. It reinforces the hope of having a better life. Ultimately, I hope this book will start conversations leading to solutions. I also want to encourage independent rational thinking while awakening individual desires and definiteness of purpose; thus inspiring a rising wave of consciousness amongst men that will detour them from the confines of the penal system. We have to move away from the morbid, psychologically unhealthy, and oppressive mob mentality. Injecting hope for a viable future is crucial to improving the mental stability of men in prison and how our communities see them. We can start with a few in hopes that other offenders and potential offenders will model their character after the good examples that are set in motion. The willingness to change truly comes from within, but help is always welcome. Topics covered include: Listening, Ulterior motives, Mental health, Violence, Fantasexing, Courage under fire, A place to belong, Keeping track of time, Respect, Social Responsibility, Communication, Family, Friends, and Significant others, Health, Physical fitness, Hygiene, Nutrition, Anger, Fear, Inadequacy, and Rejection.
