The "Stepping Out" scheme is a resource-based geography course which offers a combination of resources and related activities designed for use across the complete ability range with the 11-14 age group.;The three resource books provide the core of the scheme, and linked to each one there are two sets of copymaster worksheets - Set A for average and more able students and Set B for the average and less able.;The content is organized around a framework of key ideas, skills and concepts and grouped into six thematic modules which are repeated in each resource book: a place to live; workplace; moving around; environment; using natural resources; development and change.;It has the advantage that the teacheer can choose the wroksheet best suited to a student's ability and that the scheme can be used with mixed ability, settle or streamed classes and that it promotes actiity-centred learning, the cornerstone of later GCSE work.
