In committing this book to the public, the author, therefore, firmly hopes for the alfifi. Ance of the refident gentlemen of the county, by being favoured with their remarks for the fecond edition of the work, which {hall be publilhed [when their opinions are received. In the mean time, it mull be under?ood, that the prefent are but a compilation of the Opi nions which were confulted, and that neither can the Dublin Society, who has honored him with the talk, nor the author himfelf, be air, {werabl'e for the accuracy of thefe reports, the plan of which, antecedent to the baronial detail, he has to, acknowledge, were taken from the Somerfetihire Survey, at the fug gefiion of the Society.
