Publisher's Synopsis
Gold Run was an angry town. Nobody knew that better than Morgan Steele, because that anger was focused on him. The name STEELE was a bad word in Gold Run, although it might not have been that way if Herman Kaplan were alive. He and Daniel Steele, Morgan's father, had been good friends. But neither was a good manager. After the rich vein in the Yellowbird mine had been lost, Kaplan had tried to keep it going. Within a year creditors were snapping at his heels. Daniel Steele had saved Kaplan by buying the mine and paying off the debts. But Kaplan's new wealth was gambled away and he took his own life. And a lot of people still blamed Steele.
