Publisher's Synopsis
This revised edition of "Staff Appraisal in Schools and Colleges" sets appraisal within the context of the management of staff. The basic managerial approach of the first edition is maintained, but with further detail as provided by the framework proposed by the National Pilot Steering Group. Target-setting is thus now seen as part of the mainstream of appraisal and staff development is seen as part of staff management. Classroom observation, despite its difficulties, joins the interview as a major feature of the appraisal process.;The practical emphasis of the first edition has been retained - case studies have been used to examine appraisal support structures and practice at the level of LEA, as well as case studies of schools and colleges.
