The Stabat Mater is in its origins a medieval poem depicting the Mother of God before her crucified son. That is why the Stabat Mater still prays today on the Feast of the Seven Sorrows of Mary (September 15th). Dvorák's The Stabat Mater was premiered in Prague in 1880 and its creation is closely linked to his personal fate. Three of his children died within a short time. (Violin 2 part).
The Stabat Mater is in seinem Ursprung ein mittelalterliches Gedicht, das die Gottesmutter vor ihrem creuzigten Sohn. Deshalb die Stabat Mater noch heute am Fest der Sieben Schmerzen Mariä (15.9.) bebetet or sungen. The Stabat Mater Dvoráks wurde 1880 in Prag uraufgeführt und ist in seiner Entstehung eng mit seinem personally Schicksal verknüpft. Innerhalb Kurzer Zeit verstarben three seiner Kinder.
