The Association Internationale des Ecoles Superieures d'Education Physique (AIESEP) is one of the main international, non-governmental organizations concerned with teaching and research in physical education and sport. The AIESEP World Congress, held every four years, is a major gathering of sport and physical education specialists. The 1990 Congress, the papers of which are presented in this volume, drew delegates from 35 countries.;This volume comprises the proceeding of this conference. Five main themes are covered by the contributors. The first section deals with sport pedagogy: research into teaching and coaching in physical education and sport. Section Two deals with special populations: the physical activity needs of individuals with disabilities. Section Three looks at health-related exercise, the teaching of which in school has become a major change of focus in recent years. Sections Four and Five cover coach education and sport in the broader contexts of leisure and lifestyle.;Though much of the research and practice documented here deals with educational issues, those concerned with sport from a scientific, medical or sociological perspective should find their specializations are also represented.
